The Dandy Lion 'with bells on', a special Christmas market

Our host: Leslieworks

What a fab day this was!

Not only was this event a most splendid opportunity to shop for unusual and beautiful gifts for yourself and others, but was also a splendid opportunity to de-stress and luxuriate with Vikki Parker, MOBILE HOLISTIC THERAPIST who brought short Reflexology and Head Massage sessions.

Here is the list of the London artists and makers extraordinaire who beautifully displayed their affordable extra-special handmades.

AND it is held at the wonderful Boogaloo with it's famous jukebox, outdoor courtyard and stables.

French Made recommends Magpie vintage crockery hire

A few weeks ago, I came across this wonderful crockery hire company called Magpie (merci, Twitter!) run by the lovely Helen. She owns a beautiful vintage collection, no only you can hire cups, teapots and cake stands from her but also buntings and garden games. Amazing!
So I am pleased to recommend Magpie services along with, of course, mine!

The Dandy Lion market #5

Being in October, #5 celebrated the themes of the macabre. As usual, the event was characterised by amazing creations: From Prints to paper crafts, from recycled fashion to home and decorative wares, but also unique jewelry and accessories.

Here's some examples: CUT and TEAR

Wiz of Oz decoupaged bangle by Gen's jewlery.

Vintage style handmade postcards by our lovely and very talented  host Leslieworks

Kiddies even had the opportunities to make a Mexican Day of the Dead assemblage mask at the Interactive Craft table.
Finally, the outside stall holders had to brave the cold but were lucky enough to enjoy Erik Rutterford's fantastic acoustic tunes!

I, myself decided to go for an angry pumpkins retro style carrot and walnut cake,

a chocolate fudge cake decorated with spooky white choc skulls.

and some nutella/ peanut butter pumpkin cookies.

The next market is on Saturday 12 November. Come and enjoy a 'Spicy' event!

Love vintage: Wanstead vintage fashion and brocante fair: Saturday 4 September

These fairs run every three months and are very popular in this lovely london suburban area. There are over 30 stalls, offering a wide range of vintage goodies from shoes to furniture, from bags to haberdashery from Renee that have all been used on various productions for TV, Film and theatre including the more recent Absolutely Fabulous, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Evita. Woah! Just name it and you'll find it there. Yes, even yummy French Made cakes and bakes for the second time in a row. At last event, my quiches were a success so I was asked to bake some again as well as some traditional British cakes that they would serve on exclusive mismatched vintage china.

That was some challenge but in a couple of days, I happily, proudly managed to produce a few generous eight sliced cakes (Victoria Sponge, Coffee and walnut, Chocolate fudge and Lemon drizzle) and some puff pastry quiches (Lorraine, Tuna and black olive, Emmental and Cumin seeds and bien sur, my old time favourite: Goats' cheese, tomato and Herbes de Provence). Ta daaaaa!

My first 'English style' Birthday cake.

This time, for my lovely friend's birthday, I decided to leave out the clafoutis and other French type cakes, get out of my comfort zone so to speak and have a go at the English/ American style birthday cake with white icing and cheesy decoration. I chose a victoria sponge base and a sunflower theme to remind her of the native region, Provence. I must say, I am pretty pleased with the result. What do you think?

Dandy Lion market No 4

Last Saturday, I brought my delectables to The Dandy Lion market at The Boogaloo, hosted by the lovely Leslie from Leslieworks . My carrot and walnut cake was particularly a hit. Sooze from the beautiful Avarae17 bought some and soon everyone wanted a piece of it! What a fun day it was! There were wonderful arts and craft bits such as  Lydia from Lydia Wall Millinery and Girl from Girl From Jupiter Jewellery, a DJ, beer and even a little bit of sun! Really, what more do you expect from a Saturday afternoon in London town. Now, I can't wait for the next one. Bring on Halloween Themed Dandy Lion Market No 5!
